Maca is used since pre-Columbian times mainly as a medicinal and nutritional plant. Currently, the maca is not only consumed in the central Andes, where it is produced, but there is widespread use throughout the country. Traditional Peruvian medicine makes mention of its properties, being used to improve physical and mental resistance, acting as a powerful energizer or natural revitalizer, in addition to promoting the fertility and integral health of those who consume it by balancing the organism in a positive way.
